The European Sportboard project, led by the SantCugatCreix grouping of sports entities, was officially launched this Monday with a round table and two presentations at Esade Creapolis. The president of SantCugatCreix, Mauri Benito, was very pleased to coordinate, for the first time from Sant Cugat, a project granted by the European Union as part of the Erasmus+ program, which has a budget of 250,000 euros.
For his part, the manager of Sportboard, Enric Maria Sebastiani, explained the program’s objectives, among which he highlighted “giving tools to clubs and administrations to improve the behavior of athletes and technical teams”. The Councilor for Sports, Francesc Carol, remarked on the importance of generating debate “on issues as important as the future of sport” and recalled that Sant Cugat “makes a clear commitment to multi-sport, to women’s sport and to the practice of sport as an element of socialization, culture and values”.
At the event, which had more than forty attendees, the Sportboard program was explained and the conclusions of the European program Scores in Sant Cugat were presented. This was followed by the ‘Juguem a casa’ round table, with the participation of B Link managing partner Jordi Escribà; Blanca Nualart, the person responsible for gender and transversal sports programs of the Catalan Sports Council of the Generalitat of Catalonia; the manager of the Banyoles Swimming Club, Albert Busquets; the director of the Center for Sport and Physical Activity Studies at the University of Vic, Xavi Peña; and the president of SantCugatCreix Mauri Benito.
First European project led by SantCugatCreix
Sportboard is a European project within the Erasmus+ program coordinated by SantCugatCreix and with the participation of four other entities: the faculty of Psychology, Education Sciences and Sport of Blanquerna-Universitat Ramon Llull; the Anderlini Club (Italy); the City Council of Modena (Italy), and the ‘think tank’ Sport and Citizenship (France). With a budget of 250,000 euros, the initiative seeks to implement “innovative mechanisms for monitoring and managing the behavior of athletes in practice to offer good governance in sport”, as explained by Sebastiani.
Until now, SantCugatCreix had already participated, as partners, in two other programs, Ethics For Sports (E4S) and Scores. This is the first time, therefore, that the entity takes a step forward and becomes the leader of the project.
